Model 1895 forearm questions?
« on: December 14, 2005, 01:52:07 PM »
:D

Hi Guys,

I have a couple of questions about the 1895 forearms.  I'm getting ready to send my 22 inch version off to Marlin to have the 26 inch barrel and mag tube put on it.  Its called the Cowboy Conversion.  I was just wondering if the forearm I have on my 22 inch model will fit on the 26 inch version?  I'd like to keep it because I like the checkering.  I know it's crazy but I like the bigger forearm.  So, does anyone outthere know the answer to this one?

I really do appreciate all the info you guys have given on this forum.  It's been a great tool in helping me make major decisions about my guns, etc.

Thanks,

JT.

MARLIN FOREARMS

I just did a side-by-side comparison of the 1895CB and 1895SS forearms.

The SS forarm is 1 1/2" longer and thicker than the CB forearm.  It requires a different location for the dovetailed block that retains the forearm cap.  Installation will require milling a dovetail under the barrel at the the location, and with this, you can use either forearm if you wish.
