Question about my Knight LK-93 and snow
« on: December 15, 2005, 09:56:49 AM »
The weather here in Michigan is very typical for the season, lots of SNOW!

My question is this:  How waterproof is the breechplug in that gun going to be?  Right now its snowing like a son of a gun and supposed to all weekend long.  I am after Ol Jinglebells and I want the gun to go off on this last weekend of the muzzleloader season.  I have tried keeping it covered as best I can but but inevitably I end up with a little water or snow, or both in the bottom of the bolt channel.  Is this something to worry about or am I just nuts from trying to connect with this monster we're after?    :-D

Get yourself a Thompson Center "In Line Breech Cover" / T/C Catalog #7337. They list for $6.65. You can find a Pic of it on T/C's Web Site.

http://www.tcarms.com/TC_HTML/accessrs_misc.htm

It is leather and it wraps around the bottom of the Stock & covers up the open Breech. It fastens together with Velcro. It was designed to fit the T/C Black Diamond, but it will fit your Knight LK-93. I had to trim mine slightly to fit my LK-93. I would also suggest covering your Muzzle with some Electrical or Duct tape to prevent snow going down the Bore. If you feel you need to do something right away untill you get this cover, I would just tape up the Breech with Duct Tape.

Looks like the answer to my problems.  I should have known that I could use Duct Tape in a pinch, works for everything dont it?

Knight rifles used to send a video with each rifle and they showed the guy in the video drop his rifle in a stream , pick it up , held muzzle down , and it fired.

I have used mine for years and hunted in rain and snow (blizzards) and have never had a problem so I would say ....
DONT WORRY ABOUT YOUR RIFLE IT WILL FIRE.
