Question regarding new Handi
« on: December 18, 2005, 08:02:09 AM »
When looking over new Handi rifles at the store, is there any way to tell if it has an ejector or extractor without any disassembly (or are they all still ejector equipped)?  Thanks in advance for any replies.

Very easy, just open the gun (action) fully. If the piece that removes the shell from the chamber (ejector or extractor) snaps out with authority and with a "Snap" sound you are lucky and have one of the ejector models (lucky if you are a hunter more than a benchrest shooter). If that piece just moves out slowly with no noise about a 1/4 inch or less you have one of the new "improved"  :-D  :-D  extractors...Good Luck and I hope you get the one you want. Some here prefer the extractors, you can see by my post I am more of a hunter than a shooter and since I believe in keeping my guns clean I have never had a problem with the ejectors, perhaps I have just been lucky, but that's the way it's been for me....<><....

It may not snap out with and audible click depending on how gunked up or smooth it works. The easiest way to tell is an extractor can't be pressed in when the barrel is open like an ejector because it's completely mechanical, no spring to compress, just a gear mechanism.
