Hello all! I have an Encore .50 cal muzzleloader ordered in stainless/hardwoods.  I want to add some Custom Shop 20" barrels. My question:  If I order the heavy barrels, what forend will I use?  Will the muzzleloader forend fit? Assume the standard forend won't fit due to large barrel diameter? Want to keep the forend Hardwoods...thanks in advance for your help.

Also, is there any other source for custom made barrels that is readily available?

No one any clue?  Can't believe nobody has any heavy barrels?

Your muzzel loader forend will not fill a heavy barrel.  The good news is that you can get Realtree Hardwoods forends to fit muzzel loaders, heavy barrels and tapered barrels in addition to a Realtree Hardwoods thumbhole stock from Fox Ridge Outfitters.

A question; why 20 inch barrels?  The Encore isn't that long with a 24 inch barrel and as long as you're buying a new one, why not get the extra performance?

Thanks.  I like short guns...considered the Katahdin but wanted stainless. For treestand work/carrying, I really like the short barrels. When I used bolt-action rifles, I used several Remington Model 7's...one of the shortest available.

How much velocity will I give up in 4"?
