APPLE vs. IBM .....questions
« on: December 14, 2005, 09:55:08 AM »
My son happens to be a very good musician--plays multiple instruments, good tone, composes, etc., etc. He has been using a friend's Mac with 'Garage Band' to arrange and record his music....and I'm quite impressed. My question is the Apple/Mac computor system that more advantagous over the IBM/windows XP systems [using 'Cakewalk" software] for this kind of home composing and sound stuidio stuff, or is it about equivalent???. I have a pretty current Dell with XP that he can have for his home studio work, but he claims he must have an Apple/Mac.

Memory is considered the poor man's upgrade, you can gain a lot of performance for little cost, specially now.

Here are some links from Dell that should help you.

If you want specific memory for your PC that is guaranteed to work well, I'd get it from www.crucial.com  it more than likely will cost considerably less than Dell memory, but isn't generic memory that you'd buy at a local PC shop.
