Honest they just followed me home
« on: December 23, 2005, 12:22:43 PM »
I sold my .223 handi and the 17 Remington barrel, so I only had a RF frame that was the donor for the 17 rem barrel.  Today I stopped by a pawn shop and bought a pair of Huntsman muzzel loaders with consitive serial numbers for a hundred bucks for the pair out the door.  Don't know what I really have but they are cool, 58 cal and one looks like it was never fired and the other is really nice.  They use the #10 cap and have a screw in breach plug.  Nef's are just too cool to leave alone.  Larry

Great find, Larry!! I woulda bought a Huntsman in a heartbeat when I looked for an inline a few years ago, but they aren't legal here.  :( It would have made it a natural change from a side lock gun which I've been hunting with for the last 22yrs.

I am wondering if these are modified to be legal in Washington state.  On both rifles a portion of the top of the barrel at the breach is machined away so you can look down and see the cap and nipple.  Washing law says inlines are legal only if they use a cap that fits on a nipple and the cap is exposed to the elements.  I have never seen another Huntsman, so I don't know if they are all like mine or not.  If they are modified it was done in a machine shop and the barrels re-blued, because it looks like a factory job.  Larry

Sounds like they've been made legal to me, as long as the cap and nipple are exposed, you should be good to go!!
