Mauser action project: M98 Ankara & FR8 action Strengths
« on: December 29, 2005, 03:51:05 AM »
I'm presently considering getting a Mauser action and a couple have come up.
The intended round will be either 7x57 or 7x57AI(although with the 21" barrel I'm getting the Ackley may be a waste) but I want to be sure I can get the most out of it.
I know that people are reluctant about FR8 actions.
Are they likely to limit the 7x57 and do you guys regard them safe?
Are they too short, originally being chambered for 7.62 CETME & then 7.62 NATO?
And what about the the Turkish Ankaras?
I've heard little to nothing over the years about them apart from their unusual thread(which should be easily got around) is this a more viable action?

Cheers & God Bless
