Where to start in North Texas?
« on: March 08, 2006, 08:49:22 AM »
Hi everyone,

I just moved to one of the suburbs just north of Dallas, and am looking to do a little hog hunting. Could anybody point me towards some decent ranches or weekend shooting opportunities? I can find tons of ads for places, but I'd really prefer something recommented by word of mouth. I don't mind driving up to 5 hours if I have to, but I'd really prefer something closer. I live about 30 miles north of Dallas.

Thanks,

Syncerus

Welcome to north Texas. I live off of I35 between Dallas and Denton.

The available places vary greatly according to what type of hunting and accomodations you are looking for.

I like a place about 100 miles from my house. It's more about hunting than comfort, but the people are really nice.  You can check them out at.

I live in Allen as well.

There are a bunch of good places between Dallas and Houston, and down just south of San Antonio.

Langley Ranch is a good one.  About half-way between Dallas and Houston.  A 2 - 2.5  hour drive from Allen.

Not overly expensive, either.

Joe Langely is good people.

Dave Smith runs Texas Wild down south od San Antonio, a good place if you've got a good sized group of guys.

The price goes down the more hunters you have.  If you've got 8-10 guys he charged about 500-600 bucks for a fully guided 3day-2night.

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.
