Form 30-30 AI & 35/30-30 cases from 38-55 Brass?
« on: December 27, 2005, 12:12:28 PM »
I've been bit by the lever action bug and am thinking of either a 30-30 AI or a 35/30-30 AI, but am not thrilled about the idea of fire forming or necking up the humble 30-30 cases.

I compared the deminsions of the 38-55 and even the .375 win, and it appears that both of the aforementioned AI cases could be die formed from them without the need of any fire forming.

Your thoughts?

You'll have to fireform. The taper on the cases is greater then the taper on an AI chamber. Not to worry, it can be done with starting loads as you have to work up loads for any AI round. It's really a no brainer. :D
