Hello Comrades:
I have the opportunity of purchasing a vintage (ribbed forend) Model 760 in 300 Savage. The wood is very good, the bore also; however, a previous owner has stripped the blueing so that the metal is uniformly gray/silver. I don't know whether a stainless process was applied. The price is right -- $199.00. What do you think, not only of the stripping of the blueing but the 300 Savage as a cartridge in this rifle? It would be used to still hunt whitetail in the Montana river bottoms. The rifle is very handsome in a subdued way and I don't mind the resale value being compromised by the finish. Thanks for your help in advance, Keith
