Internal parts interchangability?
« on: December 27, 2005, 03:15:49 AM »
Ok for those that are daring enough to take apart our Handis, and replace springs, transfer bars, hammers, do trigger jobs, etc...
Just to set this straight-Are all internal Handi parts interchangable?

From all SB1- Pardners, Trackers, Toppers, Tamers, Sidekick and Huntsman shotgun and muzzleloaders.

To all SB2- Handi rifles, Survivor models, Ultra Rifles, and Ultra Slug Hunters.

or vice-versa.

Stocks and forearms are all well and good, but the guts of the action is what I'm talking about.
Perhaps the facts of this would be good to have in the FAQs?

yes and no,,,, the internals are the same and can be interchanged...the older models thier were 2 different actions...the black powder <<<<<45 and 58>>> had large firing pins to cover the #11 caps....the rifle shotguns were the same as today with exception of no transfer bar safty...this typecan be put into a newer mod action and vise versa....i do this to get rid of the high hammer and the weak  lifter striker...the sidekick i think would be different because of its smaller size but im not sure...jb

Internal parts interchangability?

Thanks for the info jb. Perhaps I should have been more specific about the year of the models stated. Though I am not familiar enough with the old ones to know. So I will let others comment on that, like your self :agree:
What I mean is for the more recent models, and models that most parts would be coming off of.
I thought it would be some good info to use in the FAQs because there are a few of us that actually perform surgery on our Handis for any number of reasons, be it replacement of faulty parts or trigger jobs.
And end up looking for parts from different distributers such as Numrich.
Also too I suppose it should be said again, - Warning -  messing with the receiver Voids the warrantee.
Only a suggestion

I ordered one of Numrich's supposedly lower Topper 158 hammers to try on an SB2 frame, but they didn't have it in stock and canceled my order. :(

are you talking about a old model hammer that used a looped spring around both sides of hammer???
