Taurus owns Rossi. So it would be more correct to say Rossi makes guns for Taurus. Both are rough take offs of S&W for the revolvers and Berretta for their semiautos as both of those companies set up the plants to make those guns. Many changes have occured since those days tho.

i have wondered that too. so it wouldnt be correct to say that they're as good as the s&w or beretta's today? more like they would be as good as they were 20 years ago? (or whenever the plants were set up)

Lord no Matt. Twenty years ago S&W was far better than today and it was even longer ago when they set up the factory in Brazil. At one point in time I felt Taurus quality might even be superior to S&W but no more. Their quality has gone to pot and their customer service is worse still. I do not recommend any Taurus product but the Raging Bulls which seem to be remaining of high quality and the Rossi M92 rifles which seem to be of very high quality.

If you don't like the silly little safety on top of the bolt on the Model 92 rifles imported by LSI you can get the same rifle imported by EMF without it.

I heard it rumored that unlike other makers, there is something about the way that they build the raging bull model chambered for the .454 that prevents you from shooting .45 Colt.

I was thinking about getting one mainly for that purpose -- to shoot the hot buffalo bore .45 Colt ammo out of it but I haven't gotten it because of this rumor that is floating around.

Ain't got clue one what the heck you're talking about but that's bad info you've been fed. There is nothing that they could possibly do to prevent the chambering and firing of a .45 Colt in a .454 Casull chamber. They might discourage it for safety reasons but can't make it physically impossible to do.

The gunk that builds up at the end of the case in the shorter Colt case can create a potentially dangerous situation I suppose or make chambering of Casull rounds difficult at least. That's the only reason any manufacturer could have for not wanting you to fire them.

The Rageing Bull will indead shoot 45s out of the 454. The only thing that has to be done is clean the cylinder before you shoot 454s out of it if youve been shooting 45s.

From what Taurus CS told me the RB will shoot 45lc just fine .

The only problem they have found is that if enough LC are fired in it there is a chance that the cyl. will form a burn ring at the end where the 45lc brass stops making it hard to chamber the 454 rounds .

I shoot both and as long as i clean the chamber real good i don't have a problem .

For what it's worth .  :D
