This weekend while most of us were spending time with family celebrating the Holiday Season with friends and family Graybeard and Matt found time to fix GBO.

Thanks Bill and Matt for taking time away from your family and friends to fix the problem. This board means a lot to a lot of people and you care and concern are appreciated.    I wish you both a very Merry Chrismas.

I am interested in a technical explanation of the problem if they care to give one.

Good to see it back up.  Hope it's not just for the moment.

We understand the frustrations - thanks for hammering through this one!

Matt was up until at least 4:00 AM that I know of this morning. He has swapped out the software and installed a fresh new version of it. Things seem really fast right now. I hope it stays that way.

He still has to add back the mods we use and get the banners back up and running. That will be done over the next few days. We're hoping this fixes the problems the site has been having tho.

... and get the banners back up and running.

Which will slow the response time down.  But that's the price of a free board.

Yes the banners will slow you down by the time it takes at your connection speed to down load them. None are really large files tho. On a high speed connection you shouldn't be able to tell they are even there as far as down load time. On a slower dial up you likely will notice the difference.

But yes without the banners there would be no GBO at all. For sure I'd not take the money it takes to run this site out of my personal pocket. For a retired fellow on a limited income there would be no way.

A little slowness from an income-producing banner is OK.

As is my $8/month (now connecting at 50k) dial-up!

Thanks again to our many sponsors for making GBO possible!
