150grn Partition or 180grn B-Tip

 for whitetail at all sorts of ranges in 300WBY magnum. Anybody have any expertice to share using either of these bullets on deer from one of the big 30 caliber magnums. Of course either bullet will kill deer deader than a sack of hammers. But what are some of the pros and cons of using one over the other.

Being honest,I never tried the 180gr B-tip,but have used the 150gr partition in 300 wby,with great results.Also use it in 06 and 308.Workup loads with both and use the one that shoots best.

 Was the partition overly destructive as some describe?

I wouldn't say overly destructive,not as bad as a 150gr b-tip,plus penetrates better.Now like I said I don't know about the 180gr b-tip,it may be more heavly constructed than the 150gr,I'm sure someone will give you an answer as to that.I like the partitions as they always shoot and preform well.

I have taken a number of deer with 180 bt in a 300 win mag. A very effective deer round. Tremendous shocking power, very accurate and flat shooting and very high ballistic coefficient. The plastic tip takes a lot of abuse from repeated rechamberings in a deer hunting scenario. I would recommend this bullet.

krochus,If I may add one more bullet for you to consider,look at the nosler accubonds as I've just finished testing the 150gr in a couple 3006s and a 308,and am impressed.In my 06 they shoot half inch groups,with best  at .392 for three shots,and recovered ones are expanded well with good weight remaining.So maybe the 180gr would do well in the 300mags and be good compromise between the B-TIP and Partitions.
