Springfield Armory Dominator??
« on: January 05, 2006, 05:05:51 PM »
Greetings,

Has anyone seen or have any knowledge of the Dominator by Springfield Armory, they were made sometime back as a conversion to 1911s, allowing you to turn your 1911, into a single shot 7mm-08 and I believe several other calibers.

Any input would be appreciated.

It was the Pachmayr Dominator. They were made in the 1980's. I had one in 35 Remington. I sold it several years ago. Hard to find any information on them. Is there anything specific information you were looking for?   :D

Mine was very accurate and not bad to shoot at all. I just lose interest in the gun and sold it. I just don't get attached to guns.  :D

Sherpaa I sent you a PM.
The only thing you should feel when shooting insurgents is recoil.

sherppa,
i have a dominator in .308 interresting and some of it is well made (don't care for the little safety they added to the bolt at all). quite accurate.
that said i'd much rather have a contnder.
nice thing is you are still shooting a 1911. bad thing is you are still shooting a 1911. the grip on a 1911 just isn't well set up for a heavy recoiling cartridge.
put em where you want em

Got to agree with you on that. The grip is punishing on the 1911 with the 35 Rem.
