I've got the 'New Vaquero' home now.  It's a 5 1/2" SS in .45.  She's a good looking and handling piece.  Ruger adding that new lock system to the gun but has given the gun a much better balance and feel.  The weight balances out the frame and barrel very well.  This gun has the best sight picture I have seen in a long time.  Very easy to pick up the sights.  Unfortunaty with it being dark when I get home from work and all the Christmas activities going on the weekends, I have not been able to shoot it for groups yet.  I'm going to try again this weekend.  I have several cast bullet loads I want to try.  Particularly the new 275 gr RCBS SWC!  I'll keep you posted.  44 Man

Well, I got her home.  She's a slick handling, nice looking revolver.  I bent the trigger spring arms just a little, that improved the trigger pull.  She has excellent sights for a fixed sight gun, very quick to pick up with your eyes.  Unfortunately, I haven't gotten any ammo thru it yet.  It's been dark and cold when I get home from work and I have just been too busy with all the Christmas doings on the weekends.  I'll try to pop a few this weekend though.  Can't wait to try those Scovil 275 gr RCBS SWC's that you cast up for me.  I'll keep you informed.  44 Man

Well, talk about repeating myself.  I apoligize about the double post there.  I tried the first post and lost the server when Graybeard was having trouble last week, so I tried posting again later.  Anyway, I shot the gun over the porch rail on Monday.  Not a lot, maybe 30 rounds to get a feel for the gun and where it shoots.  The best group (after I blacked out the satinless sights) was with some bullets that Lloyd gave me to try.  They are the new 275gr RCBS cast SWC over 20 gr of 4227.  The smaller grips (which I really like) did rap my middle finger knukle a couple of times until I held it tighter.  I was shooting at 20+ yds and had under an inch and a half group, not bad for casual shooting.  And it was right on the sights!  Next will have to come fileing the back of the front sight so it is straight and not rounded and serrating it for a better sight picture.  I REALLY like this gun!  Now, they just need to make me a blued one in 44 spl!   44 Man
