$300 MOA .308 - Scope Poll, Ring & Ammo Questions.

The NEF Survivor in .308 is ordered.
Wanted to go Bull Barrell and .308 as I'll be using it for Silhouette and need 5 rounds in 120 seconds, and .308 seems to have the most affordable and available semi-match grade ammo (the time factor for reloading makes it not cost effective.. yet).

Still somewhat undecided about optics; ordered a Tasco Target 6-24x42 for now. Never owned a Tasco, and have read many mixed reviews. Looking for an inexpensive scope with good clicks, reliable zero, and mil-dot reticle. Weight and low light clarity are not of major concern.
Rings; does anyone know if Burris Zee Signature Mediums will work with this setup? Badger ord rings seem excessive. Heh.

Anyone with experience and opinions on Optics and Ammo for this config?

The signature Z rings will be very close to working, they are slightly higher than the standard Z rings in medium.  You may have to take a tiny bit off the top of the hammer to clear depending on the eye bell on your scope.  Larry

Of the optic's you listed i own or have owned the top 3 in diffrent powers , The Bushnell has been the best overall proformer for me .

I have been looking at the Berska in a 6x24x40 for on my 223 , But after reading quite a bit i feel that spending a little more money for another Bushnell will be my choice .

The last BSA that i had was on my 41 mag. S&W , It lasted a whole 9 shots till it came apart so i do not see anothet one in my furture , And their CS stinks  :(

I have Tasco's on most of my 22 RF and they do a fine job for what i use them for .

Over all for what you are going to use the scope for , I'd go with a Bushnell .  Just my op.

If thats all you got to spend, go Bushnell. But you can get a whole lot better scope for just a little more $$

I have both the Tasco Varminters in 2.5-10X42 and 6-24X42. The 2.5 is awesome (one of my favorite scopes) , but the 6-24...not so good! Anywhere over 20X and forget about it. 14-18X is good. Just gets too foggy beyond 20X though.
I also have a BSA in 4-14X50 (or is it 4-16X50) wish I could look and tell you, but oh yah it's made the trek from south Saskatchewan to Florida for repair or replacement.
So with all that in mind...go with Bushnell.

I've never has a problem with my bushnells.....but my next scope will be a Leupold......I,too recommend you get something a touch over "bare minimum" but I understand if ya can't......I couldn't either,so the bushy will work till i can get what i want

I say the Meuller Tim suggested and the Bushnell Legend would be your best bet, though keep in mind your personal needed eye relief.
Spend a little more now and avoid a lot later.

I have had excellent result with a walmart $100 Nikon 4 x 32 prostaff scope.  I use my 308 survivor as a hunting rifle, having not shot silhouettes I can not say if a fixed powered scope will work.  Also the new NEF rifle have extrators (my survivor has an extractor) not ejectors, so you have to pull each round out by hand, something you will have to work on before the match.  As for accuracy with factory ammo (so far) I shot around 1.5" at 175 yards using Winchester 150 gr. Ballistic silver tips (0.435 BC).  Using match ammo you should do better.  Good Luck should enjoy the rifle.

The Barska on my 223 is 6-24x42 ond I have had no problems with it however it takes some getting use to. Also I would like to add I got it for $60 and still think it was a heck of a deal. However for a competition I may go for a little bit better scope.

Natchez has the Simmons 44 mag 3-10x44 mil-dot on sale for $60.  I have a 3-10x44 with the standard duplex reticle that has survived a couple thousand rounds of 30-06.  It seems to be a pretty decent scope for the $$.
