I have an uncle that is selling me his old Vaquero .45 in stainless steel as soon as tax returns come in. It was made in 2002 or 2003, with only 200rds through it. Originally it was a 7.5" barrelled pistol, now trimmed to 5 or 5.5". He had the Ruger text and wording turned off too when he trimmed the barrel length. The crown is flawlessly radiused and new front sight welded on with no signs of a hackjob. Polish is high luster, both barrel and receiver match in shine even though he turned his barrel in his own machine shop.
Along with this revolver comes a cartridge belt and holster(CAS style), some casings, and some hardcast slugs.
The gun is in excellent shape, no scratches whatso ever, no play in the lockup, just fabulous.. ..the gun shoots better then I can.
We struck a deal for $400.. .....my question is, how bad did he intentionally rip himself off? I really need to know how much I truly need to make it up to the big guy.
Years ago when I was 19 or 20, he sold me my first pistol.. ..a 8" Colt Python royal blue in like right out of the factory condition for $450(came with dies, holster, belt, brass, bullets, etc too) We dated it to 1979-1980 as year of birth.. I got it in 1991 or 92..
He's an avid collector of firearms: Colts (pistols and rifles), LC Smith shotguns, Browning Hi-Walls, Weatherby rifles(not the Howa Vanguards). ...so I know he knows the true value of these pieces.
He also said he's gonna make me a deal I cant refuse on a Winchester model 94 carbine in .45LC flavor. ..
