Per my investigation of the Marble's website, they list on their spec page (link attached) http://www.marblesoutdoors.com/sights/specs/peep.html
a tang sight for the Browning 1885 w/o a tang. I am seriously interested in attaching one to mine if feasible and would like to know if anyone out there has attempted this or if anyone knows what procedure is recommended by marble's for attaching this sight.
Thanks in advance for any useable advice and/or tips

i have a friend who had the same type of browning he fitted brass inserts where the tang normally is then fitted his tang sight to them cheeper than having a false tang put in hope this helps

I did one once on a H&R Buffalo Classic. I made a 1/8" thick steel plate, in an oval shape, I then inletted the area behind the receiver to fit the plate and drilled a hole to countersink a wood screw through the plate, and into the stock. I put Acraglass in the stock recess, and set the plate into it with the wood screw secured. Then simply mount any tang sight to holes you can drill and tap into the plate. This makes a very secure mount.

i also did one on a buff classic
i just drilled straight into the wrist of the stock
and screwed it down with two wood screws
i to wondered if this setup was gonna be strong enough til someone told me that sling swivels are screwed straight into the stock and they hold the entire weight of the gun up
the tang sight doesnt have a load on it
so it is very secure just screwed straight to the wrist
mine never moved on me at all
it was very repeatable
just my two on it
