Help!

I just returned from the Handgun Only Hunt at White Oak Plantation.  I drew a number from a hat that granted me a certificate for a complete custom pistol job from Magnaport free of charge.  Seems like a good excuse to buy a new [could be used and new to me] gun for the work to be applied to.

My current hunting handguns are a T/C Contender in 7-30Waters and 41 Magnum, a RBH 6.5" in 41 Mag, and a FA 83 Premier Grade 7.5" in 44 Magnum.  I don't need anything done to them really as I am happy with them in their current setups.

My current thought is a FA 83 in 454 Casull with a 8" plus barrel plus Magnabrake, satin honed finish, action job, cylinder stripes, numbered cylinder holes, jeweled hammer and trigger, three ring scope mount and slings swivels with a nylon sling.  I could get a Field grade gun from Freedom Arms with no sights, unfinished, with the Pachmayr grips.

Any suggestions as I want to get something started that I could get done in time for developing good loads and practicing with it prior to next season.

Options you would add or delete?  Alternate calibers or guns?

Be honest with yourself.  Can you guarantee you would hit a paper plate at 250 yards...100 yards...50 yards?  Then you have no business replacing the plate with a live animal.

I'ld go for a 5" 500 mag. triger job, unfluted cyl numbered of course with olive drab finished four hole magnaport. What do you think? Me likes!!!!  :grin:  :grin:

That sounds interesting. I had my BFR in 500 Mag sent in and had a action job, barrel cut down to 6 inches and inverted muzzle crown and 4 ports done. It is a sweet shooting gun.   :D

Hmmm...I've been wanting a S&W 460 as some here are well aware of...If I were going to be given a free Magnaport pistol workover I would probably pick up BFR in 460 S&W Mag and have Magnaport work it over...That would be a sweet gun.  Good luck with whatever you choose.

I think the drawing was rigged.  I drew number 8.  But at least I got a trail cam from Recon.  What nuber did you draw?  

I think above all it is a good excuse to buy a new gun.........maybe a .500WE.  Did you see the gun Dick Williams had?  It was a .500WE and looked good.

Go with the FA 83 as you discribe.  I think this is called their Stalker conversion.
