First Shotshell Press-MEC or RCBS?

I am looking to buy a first press for low volume reloading of 20 gauge trap loads. The MEC 600 Jr. and the RCBS Mini Grand seem to fit the bill. I would like to hear others experiences with these presses. Is one superior to the other even though they cost the same?

I use RCBS for rifle and handgun reloading and MEC for shotgun reloading. Both make excellent equipment. MEC kind of rules the shotgun reloading arena and from the standpoint of availability of parts and service, I would recommend you go with MEC.

I've never used the MiniGrand, so I can't compare the two, but I like the MEC presses I have used. I must, I keep buying more of them.

The Mini Grand may be good, but I know that the MECs are good. I have 4 of them and the oldest-a MEC 600Jr. in 20 Ga. has been going strong since 1970 or so.

I would recomand the Mec Size Master. It will resize the case heads and alow you to use any cases that you might be able to pick-up at the range. If you go with the 600 Jr. you may find that alot of the cases that you pick-up may not chamber in your gun.

Catfish,
You're wrong about resizing in the 600 Jrs. They have a resizing ring in lieu of a collet, but they do resize the brass. Check the MEC website for details.

I use a MEC 600 Jr. Mark 5 and it works wonderfully.I
have never had a picked up hull not chamber normally
in any of my 4 shotguns after loading on this press.
