Midway USA deal
« on: January 03, 2006, 04:31:33 PM »
Midway had 140 gr. 7mm Sierra gameking bullets on sale for $3.75 per 100. Just got the flier, pulled them up on the internet and they are already gone!
If any of you guys got a whole bunch of these, and feel like passing some on please let me know.

Thanks, Tad

Yeah Really! I often wonder about some of those "super" deals that Midway mails me. I bet I've called a dozen times, and every single time they claim to be out of stock already!

I think it's just the old "bait, and switch" game myself...

They do that all the time particularly with .224" cal bullets.........seem to never actually have them during the "sale". They once had a sale on 50 gr. Vmaxs in the 250 count box for $12.........too bad nobody ever got any.

Great Midway Deal

Hey Shooters,

I must say that I have been a loyal fan of the Midway organization and have been buying from them way back in the late 80s, early 90s with great success. They offer competitive prices and typically quick shipments.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with your statements. The last two orders I was going to place, from the sale flyer, I ended up not placing. On both of those orders the main items I was buying were sale items and were sold out.  I don't know if their sales dept records these cancelled order calls but this apparently is becoming a routine thing and should be addressed by Mgmt. If this is a sales tactic to "up-sell" to higher priced items, it won't work with this boy and my patronage will be re-evaluated.  I have even offered to waite for the next shipment to come in and take a late shipped order. They could not offer this and I would have to place an order at a latter date when the items where in stock. This would have still been a compromise on my part because I would have paid extra shipping dollars for the seperate shipments. Needless to say, I never called back latter and didn't buy from them on those items.

It appears from the articles I have been reading on Midway, their organization has just exploded in size and expanded to other sporting goods buisnesses besides their catalog/internet business. This is fine and I have no problem with a successfull business. I just hope they are not losing focus on the customers that made them successfull!

With the new Bass Pro shop, new Gander Mtn., fairly new Sportsmens Warehouse and a new Cabelas being built they will quickly "sale" themselves right out of this area.

The incentive to buy from anyone but Sportsmens Warehouse right now for me.........is almost nonexistent. Better price, no shipping costs and they have what I need...no phony sales. Great sales people that know shooting/hunting.

I would assume it is possible to backorder a product out of stock while on sale.  Unless they state that backorders are not possible until after the sale is way over (30+ days).

BTW, I have made a bulk order (500 bullets) once, and they had a sale going on at the time. That was a few months ago.  Saved a little bit, but nothing similar to the scale described by Tad Houston.  I don't recieve emails from them on super saels or anything like that; so I might not be seeing the whole picture like you guys.

I quit dealing with Midway years ago unless it's an item that Midsouth just doesn't carry. Midsouth's prices across the board are much cheaper unless you have an FFL in which case Midway some times does beat their prices but I'm not sure that Midsouth wouldn't still be cheaper with an FFL since I don't have one. Besides Midsouth is a sponsor of GBO and you're helping the site and saving money at the same time. I've been buying from them for over 20 years.

I quit dealing with Midway shortly after they started charging freight, but for other reasons. Midsouth and Graf get my business now, or I wait for a gunshow and pick up what I need.
