Does anyone have any knowledge of the Springfield M6 Scout? Comes in either .22LR or .22 Hornet with .410. Costs new about $220. Is it any good or just junk? A lady friend who lives alone in the country wants an all-purpose gun to keep in her house.

For an all purpose long gun in the country why not a 12/16/20 ga SxS shotgun. BB or 4 buck shot would work on most situations encountered in the country. If she needs more then use slugs.

It's my understanding that Springfield has discontinued the M6 scout.I have one in .22Hornet over .410 gauge. As a handy utilitarian combo it is good.

Hi
I have one in 22 over 410 and it is a neat gun. But I would not reccomend it for a house gun.
It is great for a pack gun but for just around the house I would say get a shotgun or regular rifle.
Just a thought
