here in west oz cant get blow tubes for black powder cartridge cuns,so i made my own 45/70 case drill out the flash hole to 23/64 one pice of 23/64 aluminium arrow shaft cut to 2-3/4".wrap the cut arrow shaft from one end of the shaft for 1-3/4" to make it a snug fit inside the 45/70 case push into the case so the untaped part sticks out through the rim of the case and push clear tube on to the rest of the shaft one blow tub as can be seen in the pic's.

Hi Bernie,

I am further south of you in Harvey. Just south of the fire, that has now begun to burn again... Bore pigs are different to the Boresnake. Tho I have never used them - yet... You push the damp borepig thru your barrel after each shot. There is some info on them in BPC News. under product reviews. is some info on MSN's BPC forum, maybe here too. Rick Morrill in Texas makes them. They sound good from what I have read and heard from shooters...

Sold the last of my BPC rifles last year, they were more collector than shooters. Now re-buiding a shooting collection, with 2 in the making and another in planning stage.

Cheers Bernie,

Looks like the firecrews yesterday and last night got on top of the fire again. The sky north of me looks relatively smoke free now. I hear you on the flogging. I got the whip! I am not real accurate with it, but guranteed to take some bark of the fire bug... Then an Irish knee-capping maybe in order!

I am running cattle out between the Harvey dam and the Stirling dam where you use to hunt. Wild pigs are still here and have been in good numbers the past 2 years. Have had a fair amount digging on my place... The Boars are still good size even with all the poaching going on. I have a pet one here, tame as dish water. If he didn`t spend the days sharpening his tusks on the wire mesh till they break, he would have a good set! he still scares a few visitors if he gets out of his large pen ;)

Bernie: RE, above tusks--how much did that pig weigh? From the size of them, it might have been a  big one?....

Bernie great tusks! You did well... At 500lbs, that is one "Big" pig too. I haven`t come across one anywhere near that size. Ours seem to be more compact razorbacks - typical big plated shoulders, smaller rump, long snout and razor. mostly black, but some speckles, even seen 2 near all white...

Tusks of size are not easy to come by either. Most are well ground down thru foraging summers... I give summer a miss for Pigs here usually as with less green pick and soft ground around, they forage more along the creek and river beds. This is where a lot of Pepermint trees grow. once they dig around the roots it sure taints the meat! Some people will trap a few. my neighbour has a trap out now, and then feed them on grain a while to kill the peppermint and stronger gamey taste of summer.

Boddingtom shire is only about 20 mins from me and the town of Boddington 45 mins or so. My brother was on the gold mine there for many years till they moth balled it. He said they would often see pigs on the haul roads...

Its Marron season right now, so my area is full of people at the dams and river all trying to get their quota and blueing with each other over their turf... I got to keep an eye out for poachers right now. Normality will return soon - I hope!
