I'm glad to see them selling some guns direct again. They sold alot of interesting experimentals and one of a kinds that way before.

I'll bet that comp blows a big flame at night from that 455 supermag!

I got my model 15VH5 from DW Direct almost two years ago now (I have seen the stainless twin of it on gunbroker lately, I don't think they made very many 5 inchers). I remember they were very friendly, very fast. At that time, they also had guns they had taken on trade, and a shipment of Armscor 1911's that were going for a song. We'll see if they do business that way under new ownership.

That 455 looks sweet. Might have to look at one of those, instead of the T/C Encore and the 1911 I was planning on this year.

A few years ago I acquired a .445SM in a trade for a custom 715 I'd done. It had a comped 8" barrel, and I wanted something a little less front-heavy. I called DW to acquire a 4" barrel assembly, and they offered me one of the 4" comped assemblies at a better price; said that they had made a bunch up and couldn't seem to sell them. Of course, I took them up on their kind offer.

I can therefore state with confidence that "fireball" doesn't even begin to describe what comes out the end of that thing! (Try it on an indoor range with the lights dimmed.... :shock: )

What is a 445 Super Mag? I do not see any reload data on it out there. I was going to buy a 454 Casull, but the 445 sounds interesting. What are the ballistics with a 300 gr bullet?

The 445SM is essentially a lengthened 44 Magnum. When I had mine, I loaded per the Accurate load manual - 300gn bullets at roughly 1600fps. Because of its higher sectional density, has increased penetration over the 454 - just the thing for those head-on water buffalo shots. :lol:

It's been said that the 445SM is more accurate, but never having owned a 454 I cannot say. Perhaps someone here can confirm or dispel that report.
