The purpose of bedding and the oring trick is to get better groups and make the gun more consistant from shot to shot, bedding the forearm basically is done by some sort of epoxy compound and a release agent this is supposed to take away any uneven pressure and contact spots that sometimes come from the stocks at the factory....and it also provides more consistancy from shot to shot on how the barrel moves in the channel, which in theory creates better groups if you can repeat the same exact variables everytime. The oring trick pretty much is a little rubber oring which goes around the barrel stud in the forearm. This applies a little bit of upward pressure on the barrel and provides a gap between the barrel and the forearm, this pressure and freefloating affect gives many of our handy's better groups....but beware....everygun is differerent..yours may shoot better with no forearm mods., o ring trick...or maybe it shoots better with the entier forearm bedded...it just takes lots of tinkering and time but pays out and usually pretty fun in the mean time....also if you shoot from a bench try placeing hte front rest just forward of the hinge pin...i have heard of several handi's shooting well like this with no weight being place on the forearm....mine included....but every gun is a lil bit different....good luck!
