Oversized footprint found on jobsite
« on: November 21, 2005, 04:01:53 PM »
Before I get to the story I just want to let everybody know that I'm not much of a believer in superstitious events...though I like reading them and hearing about them. However, I came upon my first encounter with an out of the ordinary sighting just last summer. A footprint which was much larger of that of a human or any animal I know of.

It was late summer 2005 when me and a few fellows were working on a very large log cabin/house located between Center Moreland and Beumont, Pennsylvania. This is a very remote location on top of a mountain in the foothills of Pa. Norhteastern part of Pa so to speak.

Having been on this job for about a month already, I was pretty knowledged on the surroundings and setting of this job. The main site overlooked the whole country land below and to the north. Behind the cabin is a very dense amount of mountain laural and oaks. A dirt road meanders up behind the cabin also, taking you on a rocky trail circling around the bordering land. All in all, it is pretty much secluded from all life, though showing you a great view of the farm country.

One day while walking around the cabin and taking 5, I noticed a very large footprint in the semi-dried up mud behind the cabin. The print was facing towards the cabin and seemed to be imprinted several inches into the earth. An estimate of weight to make a print like this in the specific type of mud would probably be several hundred pounds as my print would leave a simple tread pattern in it. Comparing it to a 17 ounce Dr Pepper bottle, the print literally swallowed it and doubled its length. Me, wearing a size 11, took my shoe off to compare and it was like comparing a 17 ouncer to a 2 liter soda bottle. The big toe was about an inch wide and a good 2 inches+/- long. There was even a partial print imbedded into the mud along the forefoot. Overall, this thing had to be as long a computer keyboard. Its appearance resembled that of a perfect human foot, only twice the size.

Astonished,  to say the least, I snapped a few photos and told a few guys about it. They laughed it off and said sombody threw a 2x4 into the mud and it turned out like a footprint. I dont think so!

Other reports were that a few guys made it to freak out other workers. I can't believe this one either because the men on the job were pretty much down to business and I dont think they would take the time to make such a perfect print in a random location by the cabin.

I am now believing that this over sized print was made by some sort of being I am unaware of. One day it just appeared and seemed to be fresh from the night before. The print stayed there for the better part of a week until bulldozing swept the evidence clean.

As for the pictures...I will contact my sister who now has them and upload a few comparison shots later this week. Sorry for the delay, but I do have pictures of this outdoor phenomenon.

Any ideas as to what could have been roaming the mountains of northern Pennsylvania, especially on an active construction site?

In confusion at best....

I also wear size 11. I just measured my big toe on the right foot. It is almost precisely one inch wide and is precisely 2" long.

Some how your dimensions don't jive.

OK, now we know.  BigBill is migratin' slowly toward the Southwest from his native Connecticut.  I think once he gets on down to the mountain area of Tenn. or Kentucky he might be really hard to find if he gets holed up in those mountains.  And internet access isn't all that great down there either.  That man is gonna be tough to find (lololol).............. Im sorry about these figures but as it was several months ago I am not excact on the toe sizes. I simply threw an estimate of how I rememberd the print. All aspects may not be precise.

However, once I get the pictures from my sister and put them on here, you can all see for yourselves that this print was very large and human like.

Figured something had to be amiss when you talked about a print that would dwarf mine but with a big toe the same size as mine.  :)  That bad boy would have to have tiny toes.

It could be a youngin bigfoot?  The main thing that happens to me is the tree knocking in the early am right at first light or just before first light. We know everyone is sleeping(humans) and its dead quiet when i'm fishing.  I will get one loud tree knock either infront of me or off to the left or right that is close to me and then i get another faint tree knock from a distance that answers it a moment later. It happened once to me in a populated area too but there are large forests nearby of protected land trusts.  Anything could be in them because no one ever goes completely into them.  I think its time to keep an ear out and listen for this unusual tree knocking there's no other sound like it. Maybe its an alarm and  I wonder if they are warning each other that i'm there? When i hear one tree knock i figure no it can't be? I doubt it, but then its answered from a distance later.  It becomes questionable to whats happening and going on.

Its very hard to track in the forest were the ground is hard.  I'm a good tracker for deer and bear but some of my bear tracks are questionable because of their size.  I have seen tracks in the snow that are bigger than my size 12 sorrel boots.  They seem to be 14" or 15".  It never occured to me it could of been a bigfoot but a bear track of that size now i'm not sure. These tracks scared my older brother when he seen it. He said lets get out of here while its still light, its getting dark. I said at 3pm? We would constantly go in and out of the woods in the dark and this one time he was spooked. In the light snow it was hard to make out.  It seemed to walk like we do uprite around and thru the trees because of the tight turns it made.

I don't have all the answers but there is something out there thats unexplained from something following me, to rocks being banged together at 1am, to the aweful gut wrenching screams that sound like smoeones guts are being ripped out while they are still alive.

I think no matter were we live its time to pay close attention and listen there maybe more of these things than we think.

Try to keep in mind that there've been people who've publicly admitted to using large wooden "feet" to walk around job sites and camp sites to fool people into thinking that "Bigfoot" had paid a visit.  Hoaxes like these are a dime a dozen, just like the geometric shapes that've been found in wheat fields in England.  Pranksters have a field day with the gullible when it comes to this stuff, just like the "flying saucer" photo hoaxes.

Hi Hildy :D

keep us informed about possible other foot prints that might happen. After all if he (bigfoot) came by once, he might come by again. Have some plaster casts powder nearby, so you can cast the tracks. Also, when you find anymore, look for dermal ridges on the bottom of the tracks. They cannot be duplicated. Or at least I`d say 99% of the hoaxers, cant do it. The dermal ridges on a bigfoot run the entire length of the foot. It is like a finger print of the foot.

It sounds to me like you are in an isolated place, and might find more tracks. Have you thought about spending the night out there and listening for strange sounds?

Hi guys...

been a while since I posted on this thread.

As for the thought of spending the night at this place...well Im sure I would be able to as the oeners of this land are close friends of mine.

Are the dermal ridges you speak of just small lines running down the print? Because I can remember there being a pattern in the print that had a fingerprint looking appearance to it, almost like a foot-sized print the whole length of the print.

Ill have to get those pictures off of my sister next time I talk to her to study it a bit more.

I dont know if this was just a joke that the other workers were playing or if it is real. I cant really imagine them taking the time to make such a perfect looking print in the mud

Hi Hildy :D

Yes you are correct, those are the dermal ridges I was talking about. I doubt they were playing a joke on you, cause they couldn`t make the dermal ridges that we were talking about. I`d say you got the real thing. Get a cast of it if possible, if it is still possible. If not, well wait till the next ones show up, and it sounds like they well.
Its not many people that can get real Bigfoot tracks, so cast them and you will be very glad you did.
