Anyone own an older Winchester Model 12?

I could use some help from somebody familiar with these.  I put up a post in the gunsmithing forum about keeping the shell in the tube and if one of you model 12 owners would kindly read it, I think you might know what I'm asking. I would greatly appreciate it. The post is only about 3 or 4 down from the top.
