Z2 Bases at Bass Pro
« on: January 07, 2006, 03:32:56 PM »
Has anyone heard, tried, or have any experience with the Z2 or Z3(whatever) bases that Bass Pro is selling for the Encore? They are a clone of the Maxima base but cost 15.00 instead of 50.00.

I bought one for my new 22-250 barrel and upon examination the ring slots dont match up with the maxima bases so scope interchangability is not there.

If anyone knows anything about these bases, please let me know before I lock tite it to my barrel..

I know nothing of these bases, so this is a general comment.  Take it for what its worth.

In general you get what you pay for.  Normally there is a reason one is $50.00 and the other is $15.00.  When you find out the difference you can determine if it is worth it to you.

Life is to short to go with the cheap stuff for me.  I have wasted to much time trying to get junk to work as well as quality stuff.  I no longer try.  Perhaps I miss a good deal once in a while, but that's life.

Good luck on your purchase.

I think I am going to take it back and get a different one. May change all my bases and rings to something else.

Evening BKS,

Can't speak for anyone else, but I'm a loyal fan of the Leupold bases and rings.  Never had a problem of any kind with them and have them on seven rifles ranging from .22 to .375 H&H.  A couple have the Leupold Quick Release and never had a problem with them either.  Infact, I've taken the scopes off before and replaced them (quick release mounts). Never had one shoot more than a 1/4" off at 100 yds; but that could've just been me anyways!
