I tried a bit last year in the canal that runs along Hwy 27 but didn't have much luck. I was using an 8 wt fly rod. Where are you trying? I live south of Tampa, and have been thinking of taking a trip down there to try some myself.
One of our store managers said he did pretty good in the ponds by the airport just off the turnpike. he said the cops stopped to see what he was doing, I guess cause he was in the flight path or something. Any way when they found out he was fishing they just waved and went on.
