Bigfoot

Okay, I talked to my Father tonight and he gave me the story of his friends Bigfoot sighting.

The sighting occurred in the mid 1960's (Alfred was unsure of the exact year, remember he is 90 years old.  He is going to ask his daughter if she remembers the year, because she also saw another creature during the same year) the location was approximately 1 mile west of Presho, South Dakota along Old Highway 16.  It was night and Alfred was coming from the west towards Presho, he noticed a pair of eyes (glowing red in the headlights) in the ditch which moved rapidly up onto the shoulder of the highway.  The creature came up onto the shoulder of the road and stood there as he approached initally Alfred thought it was a man, but he quickly realized it was NOT!.  He slowed down and pulled up to the creature which then moved back into the ditch aways.  Alfred slowed down and rolled down his window to get a better look at the creature.  He said it was approximately 10 feet away from him and BIG!  The creature was covered with hair and the thing he remembered the strongest was the 'red' of it's eyes when the lights hit them.

He drove past it and sped into town to look for the Sheriff, who he was unable to locate.  He thought about going back by himself but said he then started to think about 'vampires' and 'such' and decided to beat it home as quick as he could.

Later that same year he said his daughter saw the creature ahead of her along a country road near Medicine Creek.  She saw it up ahead of her and it was running bent over towards her car, it stopped and stood upright.... again it's height 'very big'.  She stop turned around and took off as fast as she could go..... don't know if I blame her.  Alfred went on to say that several other individuals saw similiar sightings that year mostly up on or around the Lower Brule Indian Reservation.

Alfred is an interesting old gentleman.  He's a 1/2 blood Sioux and his father (who was much much older than his mother) was a Frenchman and was a Horse Thief.... :) .  The irony of the matter is that he and my Dad are best buddies and my Dad's Father was among other things the County Sheriff!! :)  My Dad and his older Brother where serving as Deputies when they were only teenagers.

If I find out the exact year I'll pass it on.....

God Bless!

Thanks for the story WmRoy :D
I have heard of other reports where people that see Bigfoot at night, say his eyes are red also. The ones I have seen had green eyes, thats probably depends on how the car lights hit them.

Great story and thanks

The creature I saw had a very pale yelow-green, almost off-white, eye shine.  It was almost more like the eyes glowed on their own , since there were no artificial lights on at the time (just a very bright full moon).  Since the thing had crept up to within six feet of me, I got a very clear look - the entire eye was glowing, not just the pupil.  I could see the elliptical, almond shape of the eye opening.

Just the observed facts...

Thanks a lot SoloKane
Its almost a full moon, and I`ve been out for 3 hours, listening for any bigfoot sounds, and to see if there are any showdows, but after reading your reply, I got the jitters now. :)  :) Very good description. I`ll be looking over my shoulders now. I`m the only one hunting tonight.

Well, I've always been on the fence about Bigfoot.  But after talking with the 'Old Timer' about Alfred's sighting I'm convinced there is something to it after all!

Alfred is one of the few Native Americans I know (remember I grew up right next to the Res!) who NEVER drinks alcohol, he's very hard working, served during WWII, and has a college degree.  All said he just ain't your typical Native American.  Probably because he's a 'real indian' and not one of the younger brain washed younger group (but that's a whole different topic).  So when he tells you something he's not a brain damaged heavy drinker nor a man prone to wild claims..... he has always been a straight shooter.

My Father told me another story which I eluded to in another post.  Up on a Ranch that my Father used to lease (near Medicine Creek, not that many miles from where Alfred's daughter saw a creature, course remember where I grew up our drive way is 3 1/2 miles long! :)  ) a couple of the hired men were working in the barn one day when all of a sudden what sounded like a very heavy man ran across the roof and they heard it or him jump into the brush at the other end of the barn.  They ran out around (the thing jumped off the back of the barn and the door was at the front.... this barn also was not one of the mega tall old barns) to see what was up but found nothing.

This ranch was completely hay ground and pasture land and unless we had cattle grazing there it went for long periods with no one around.  Anyway later that winter when going up to retrieve some haystacks with the mover they discovered large bare foot human tracks in the snow around the hay stacks......... kind of freaked them..... unfortunately the fella's that heard the noise and saw these tracks have both passed away so I can't go back and talk to them about it.....
