G2 triggers
« on: January 09, 2006, 02:47:42 AM »
Good morning, Board;

So far, I'm not a contender person, but I am tempted to change that by buying a G2 frame.  My questions are (1) how good can the triggers be made, and (2) how do you go about it.  That is, can you get after market parts to drop in or is it strictly a hand job.

Here is the basis of the question.  I can get a G2 frame for $200 to $225 and do the trigger or Bullberry's offers a new frame with trigger job for $275.  Which is the better way?

Thanks.

Y'all be good.

you can either buy the spring set and do the polishing  becoming familiar with the gun or have it done and not have the liability and know it is done right.

Don't assume that all G2 triggers need work.  Both of mine are untouched, about 2.5 pounds and break like glass.  Unless you need lighter triggers than that you may be happy as delivered.

Good morning, Folks;

Thank you for the replies.  What I want the gun for (I think) is to make a switch barrel Schuetzen offhand rifle.  For offhand shooting, I like a trigger in the range of 12 to 16 ounces.  Do you think that is attainable?

Thanks again.

Y'all be good.

The factory trigger on my G2 is awesome. I have bolt rifles with Timneys and trigger jobs and the G2 is as good as any. It seems to get smoother and smoother, the more I shoot it. Wouldn't want it any lighter for a hunting gun, probably right around 2lbs, but I haven't tested it.

Good shooting,
Brian

I would guess that you could get it there, but I would suggest a smith to make it that light.  For what I do that is way to light, but you need to make it yours.  I know TC won't ship it at under a pound.
