ISRA: Chicago Mayor Daley Leads Democrats on Election Year Suicide Attack Against Illinois Hunters and Sportsmen

"Misguided, unfair and unenforceable," is how the ISRA is characterizing a gun control bill introduced in the Illinois General Assembly late last week. The introduction of HB2414 is the latest effort by Illinois Governor Blagojevich and Chicago Mayor Daley to clamp down on private firearm ownership in the state. Under HB2414, a large portion of firearms currently owned by law-abiding Illinois citizens would be banned. Subsequent to the ban, persons found in possession of affected firearms would face felony prosecution. Previous attempts by Daley-aligned House Democrats to institute gun bans have fallen to defeat.

Supporters of HB2414 laud the bill as a tough crime fighting measure. In reality, HB2414 does nothing to fight crime. Rather, it creates a whole new class of criminal offenses where there were none before. HB2414 creates a whole new class of criminals from previously law-abiding citizens. Nowhere in the bill is there a provision that would lower the state's already low rate of violent crime. Mayor Daley has said many times in the past that, if it were up to him, nobody would be allowed to own a gun. HB2414 is merely a thinly veiled attempt by Daley to force his will on all the citizens of Illinois.

"Like all good citizens, the state's law-abiding gun owners have been more than supportive of efforts to fight violent crime," said ISRA Executive Director Richard Pearson. "However, we will not accept gun bans of any sort -- regardless of how Daley's people try to sugar coat them with exemptions and grandfather clauses. Gun bans are unacceptable -- period. The right to keep and bear arms is not negotiable -- period."

"In recent years, the state's gun owners have exercised great restraint in the face of constant attacks on their constitutional rights by antigun legislators," continued Pearson. "With the introduction of HB2414, 'decorum' has now been stricken from our lexicon. Legislators who vote for HB2414 may get a brief pat on the back from Daley, but they'll endure months and years of attention from the state's gun owners. Supporters of HB2414 will be exposed for what they are - enemies of the state's hunters and sportsmen. General Assembly Members should heed well the lessons of 1994, when the passage of a federal gun ban resulted in the Democratic Party losing both chambers of the U.S. Congress."

*FW Note:

A bunch of IL politicians are jumping on this bandwagon.  Ya gotta wonder what Daley has hanging over their heads.

With regard to the issue, can you say "Election Year Suicide"?

 :)
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.
