Sights on BC

Hey guys!

I got to shoot my new BC for the first time last Sunday.  Sweet!

To my question: I replaced the rear Williams peep with the Smith Buckhorn.  As I stated in another post, the slider was missing the plug/spring/ball bearing that holds the slider in place when you raise it up the ladder (Smith is sending the replacement parts, even though I bought it from Buffalo Arms and not Smith.)  Needless to say, with the ladder up, the slider could only be used at the lowest setting, marked for 200 yards.  BUT, at 100 yards, it was hitting about 10 inches low!

I noticed that the Lyman front globe sight is the tall one (.584 from center of globe to bottom of dovetail,) which leads me to believe that in combination with the Smith rear sight, I need one of the shorter Lyman sights, either the .494 or the .404, to raise the impact so that when set at 200 yards, it should hit high at 100 yards, and right on at 200 yards.

So guys, what do you think about this? Am I on the right track?  If so, which of the two hights do you think would be correct in combination with the Smith?

Thanks,

Sweaty

You're on the right track..  A lot of us here have changed the front for a lower unit.

You might want to provide loads and velocities for use to give somewhat accurate info.
