K31 reloads
« on: January 08, 2006, 05:59:25 AM »
Here is the latest reloads for my Swiss K31.  I am reloading the Berdan primed brass.  This is using Hornady Interbond 165 gr. bullets and 44 gr. of 4350 powder.  This was shot from 75 yards.

Everyone kept telling me that the K 31 was an accurate rifle so I just ordered one and I sure hope it shoots like that one.
Was that done with a scope? And even if it was that is still pretty good shooting.
And Have you tried any cast loads in it. I like shooting cast with my 30-30 and I wondered if they would work well in the 7.5x55?

This was shot using a scope.  With my eyesight I couldn't see very well at that distance using iron sights.  I shot this group using a folded up pillow as a rest and from the hood of my truck.

I just got into reloading and want to shoot cast bullets in the near future.  I have read somewhere that the K31 likes cast bullets but can't remember where I read it.  I think some on this forum have if they will chime in.

Lyman 311291

Jack I was looking at the Lyman 311291 and it looks like it might be a good cast bullet for the K 31 but so far I can't find a manual that has a load for it. I am neither clever nor brave enough to make up my own loads, so I want to see it in a book before I load it.

There is an outfit that sells those already cast and sized so I wouldn't have to fire up the lead pot. It's at http://www.customcastbullets.com/ And I think they are getting $55 per thousand, plus S&H.

If you find a manual with cast loads let me know will you? The address is qajaq@yahoo.com

I will keep you in mind.  I just recently got into reloading so I am working up loads for my K31, 223, and now my 8mm Mauser.  But I will cast my own bullets eventually.

I am collecting lead right now for when the time comes.  I have two big buckets so far.  I want to get some experience with jacketed bullets before I move onto cast.

I have also looked at already made cast bullets.  Thought about trying some so I can see how they are going to shoot in my rifles and see which I like best for when it comes time to buy my molds.
