This Happened TO Me!

When I took my "New" NEF 243 out of the box on Christmas morning I was pretty excited.  I've wanted one of these for quite a few years and my wife got me one.

The first thing I noticed was the inside of the barrel was filthy.  No big deal.  Some employee forgot to clean it before it left the factory after they finished test firing it.  Then I went to mount the scope and discovered that the scope mount screw closest to the breech was in crooked and not fully seated (cross threaded).  I removed the two front screws to confirm my thoughts.  The cross threaded screw not fully seated was not doing anything other than looking bad.  

When I contacted the service manager and asked for a new barrel since that is what I paid for he used the analogy that if I bought a new car and drove it awhile and it quit would I expect a new car?  I hadn't even fired the weapon yet!  I wanted the weapon returned without the scope mount in place so I could inspect their work.  The service manager informed me that this would void my warranty.  They did not want me to see what they did to patch up the new barrel.  I also asked if he could give me the so-called 3 pound free trigger job.  He agreed to that but didn't do it.

I called Diane (Tim's boss) and she was going to handle it.  Tim left a message on my answering machine that was very condescending.  

I got my New gun back from the factory which I haven't even fired yet with the scope mount in place so I couldn't inspect the threads on the repaired hole (on my "new" gun) without voiding the warranty.

Needless to say I think it was just another day at the factory for all three of these employees.  No one went out of there way to make certain this wouldn't turn into what it did.

I'm done trying to work with these folks.  I'm going to use my gun in the state of mediocrity that it came in from the factory.  

It'll really impress my friends.  I'm certain they'll rush right out and purchase one just like it!  Customer service is a thing of the past.
