Fired new handi .204 yesterday, wow!
« on: January 16, 2006, 08:43:05 AM »
I've tried to post this since yesterday, arrrrrg.

Anyhow, i got a couple chances to shoot the new .204 handi yesterday in between calling for coyotes. My 6-24x scope isn't here yet but i had a weaver k2.5x scope to throw on just to shoot it and get a feel for it.

I zeroed it 1-1.5" high at 100 yrds within its first box of ammo. Considering the quicky zero/2.5x scope and heavy trigger the last group looked very promising.

Here's the part that blew me away. After calling a set across a valley with no luck i ranged the opposite side of the valley(very steep walls) at 329 yrds. We just had 2" of fresh snow overnight and it was easy to find little dark spots as targets and very easy to see impacts when you hit/miss etc. because of the snow.

I was shot for shot hitting everything i aimed at at 329 yrds! It was unreal. A buddy shooting a .243 with cheap 80 pointed soft points was hitting about 6-8" low. I've never had a long range shooting experience like that. It was awesome and i am very happy so far.

I will chrony it and post some more group info when i get the other scope on it and put some more official time into trying to see what it can group. This was factory 32 grain ammo fyi. I don't reload.
