25-06 Ultra going back to factory
« on: January 16, 2006, 02:00:55 PM »
I bought this rifle last August or early September, for deer season.

It shot badly (6-8 inches at 50) and I tried lapping the bore and did the usual once-over, swapped scopes, checked the crown, etc.  No Joy.

I developed some health problems, so the Ultra sat in the closet for awhile; one day I noticed that the barrel was loose on the frame with the forend off and the action locked up.  It wiggles up-and down as well as sideways.  I then noticed that the mark the ejector makes on the standing breech is only about 1/16th wide, on the left side of the firing pin hole, not the full width of the ejector like it is on my other 15 frames.  This rifle has about 15 boxes of factory ammo through the bore.

So, I wrote a letter and am packing it up to be shipped to NEF on Tuesday.  Lam stocks are staying here; a set of synthetics will go with the 25-06.

I hope they get her fixed and back to me ASAP!!
