best long range cartrige?

i have a 22-250AI. i have shot some long range groundhog,s (521 longest)
  my gun doesn,t like longer bullets. so is affected by the wind.
  what will be my next rifle?  i,m thinking 6.5x284, or 22.6mm imp. with slow twist barrel. both will shoot heavy (long) bullets. and have a high bc.
what shoots flatter, which is better in the wind (higher bc.)?
barrel length not a problem i don't mind a long barrel.

The Navy 18 in. guns shoot sub-moa at 20 miles if you want real long range accuracy!
   I`m kind of thinking of a .20 BR with a fast twist set-up for 50 grn. bullets myself. Seen a post on another board where a guy is thinking of makeing some 60 grn. bullets in .20 cal. Now they would have some BC! I also like some of the .17 cal. Wildcats. You can get some pretty god velosities with some pretty high BC bullets without alot of powder.

The 22-6mmAI will shoot a high B/C  (75gr-80gr) bullet much faster than any 6.5x284. It should shoot flatter and be less wind sensitive than the 6.5 too.

Now barrel life, that's a horse of a different color. The 6.5x284 should get about twice the accurate barrel life.

The 22-6mm is a hoot to shoot with the heavies, I'd give it a try.

I've got 2 22-250AI both with Shilen barrel one has a 1/14 other 1/12 twist barrels.  I like wildcats alot but not much into say a 22x6mm.  I've got acouple 6mmremAI both with 1/10 twist barrel and both shoot the 80 and 100gr bullet pretty good have a 6rem with a hart 1/14 twist for the 68gr bullets and 6.5x284.    I had a tight neck 6x284  set up for the 68gr bullets with a 1/14 twist barrel done up years ago as a LR PD rig rifle is sighted in at 400yds it's fun don't have to do alot of dial in stuff has a velocity over 4000fps that rifle is 16yrs old now and has about 350rds fired kind of my bragging rifle.  The light bullets in the 6mm are barrel burners take my word for that.  I'd look at the 80 to 100gr bullets in the 6mm maybe in the 243AI or 6mmremAI.   Just let me toss out acouple idea's a good 25cal varmit bullet on the 308 case called 25 Souper a 6.5 varmit bullet less than 120gr 260AI or 6.5x55AI heavier bullet go with 6.5x284 on the 6mm say a 70 gr varmit bullet a 6x250AI should be a good 500yd plus varmit rifle.  I don't know how those bullets would work on varmits but Tubbs new 115gr LVD made by Sierra in his 6x case may work.  The 1000yd guys are having luck with the 6 Dasher case with LVD bullets in the light gun weight and if twist say to a 1/14 or 1/12 may work as a good varmit round.  I've got what they call a shortentalldog 6br it's .85 short and gives better velocity than the standard 6Br case I also own a standard 6Br so you won't think I picked anything out of the air  the standard 6br case was always alittle over case capacity in the Br game so when shorten that case seem to make it work now with the Dasher just a blown out br case it has the right case capacity for the heavier bullets.  Well good luck.  My next project is a 6x250

I'm a bit confused by the statement that a slow twist barrel would handle bullets with a high BC. The longer a bullet is, the more rpm you need to stabilize it.

you are right! longer bullets need faster twist. i may have worded it wrong.

just got a cooper in 6mm 284. got lapua brass and some 87gr. v-maxes. i,m almost ready to shoot it!
