Reloading for 32 NAA
« on: January 18, 2006, 03:24:17 AM »
A friend of mine has the Guardian in this caliber, and was wondering if I'd load some practice cartridges for him.

For those unfamiliar, this is the .380ACP necked down to .32. Cor-Bon loads a 60 gr. bullet at 1200 fps. These are expensive at $9+ for twenty rounds.

I haven't seen a source for brass or dies. Has anybody out there necked .380 down to make their own brass? How well did that brass work? Where did you find dies? Where did you find load data?

Check this link , They list the Lee carbide 3 die set for $49.00 for the 32naa .

Might be less hassle than trying to neck down with standard dies .

Rum River - I would follow Stimpy's suggestion and get a correct set of dies - it will save you many, many headaches.  As for loading data - the cor-bon people are famous for telling folks they have designed special powders for their bottleneck cartridges when in reality you can do just as well if not better with regular ol' cannister powder.

As for practice loads - if you are not using cast bullets, you could probably use any of the 71-73 gn ball slugs available for the 32 acp.  Those 60 gn slugs are probably not easy to find or cheap, either.  I would begin with powder charges halfway twixt the 32 acp and the 380.  Actually, a charge for the 380 with a 60 gn or 71-73 gn bullet would most likely carry less pressure than the same charge under a 95 gn 380 slug.

I might be tempted to find one a barrel in the 32naa for one of my 380s, just to shoot the thing and see how it performs.  HTH and good luck.  Mikey.
