The 1894 models have a square bolt, versus the round bolt you see on the 336 and 1895 models. It ejects straight out the right side and slightly forward. Look at the picture, you can see the bolt just above the loading port.
Chambered in 357/38, it is probably the most versatile and sweetest little gun made. It will tackle up to deer sized game out to about 100 yards, and is a pleasure to just plink with. I personnaly wouldn't trade mine for anything.
