I want to load up some specialty critter getters for my 7400 in .243 Win. The catch is they need to be reduced power loads for safety (the family lives all around me) and just because I don't need full power. Is there some simple way to temporarily cut off the gas system in effect making a straight pull bolt action (with my SKS this is simple)? I know I could just make it a single shot but I would like to avoid stovepiping and other ejection failures all together buy eliminating the bolts ability to cycle via gas pressure. I'd sure like to make my favorite big game gun into a possum poppin', coon crushing. armadillo death ray...LOL
