It may be the wrong place to shoot behind the elbow on the shoulder,but my 300 Wby blew the heart and lungs out a 5" exit hole. There was noting left of the heart and lungs when I field dressed her. She still went 85 yds. as thou noting had happened. She weighed about 250 field dressed.If you can get the behind the ear shot,they will drop on the spot,but its risky because most of my shots are running shots. Another good spot to shoot is the upper half of the body,my 445 has dropped them on the spot with this shot along with 3 shot the same way with my 280,plus 3 shot with my 7 mag. The big ones are very hard to drop,because its like trying to knock a 400 pd. boulder over with 1 shot.
Just don't follow a wounded hog into thickets by yourself,have a friend back you up. ( One that can shoot fast and accurate and not run on you)
When I have to go into the thickets I carry my BAR in 7 mag for insurance. Digger
