Nice catch!!! Why would you want to release the otter? Is it small for an otter or somthing, or are you not allowed to trap them in your area? Man I wish I could find a beaver and an otter in one days catch. I have never caught either. I am mainly a coon trapper due to no transportation to get to places where beaver and otter are, but I am going to have a chance to set one  330 at a creek on saturday where I believe I can find some beaver, because there are dams right on both sides of the bridge. Hopefully I will catch my first beaver. Nice catch though.

no season on them here . if you have a beaver dam look for a crossover in the middle of it and set there.

I wish it was as simple as looking for a crossover in the dam. For a couple of reasons. One I don't know how to tell if the dam is still being used and 2 I am pretty sure the creek is to deep for me to get to the dam in knee boots which is all i have. I might be able to get to it I haven't really checked it out and how can I tell if its still being used by a beaver? And if that don't work....can you trap a castor mound set without any lure, and if not whats the best way to catch a beaver in a 330 with no lure. I plan on getting some beaver lure next time i go sell my fur and i think i'm going up there at the end of furbearer season and i'll try and get me some a few more 330s, some setters, and some beaver lure. thats my plan anyways if I catch enough fur to get that stuff. I defineitly have enough to get the lure though. :-) I have a $9.00 coon, a $3.00 coon, and a $3.00 muskrat in my freezer right now and 4 coon sets out so I might catch somthing tomorrow morning before I go trap in Blythedale for the weekend. Well thanks for the advice and maybe you can answer some more of my questions. Thanks once again. I am beginning to love this forum though.
