S&W 629 Classic Scope Mounting
« on: January 09, 2006, 06:37:44 AM »
Some help from you guys in this matter will be most welcome. I am going to mount a Nikon 2X scope on my 629 Classic using Burris base and rings and would like to know what rings would work best, medium or high. I want to keep them as low as I can and still have access to the hammer.

I use medium for scopes and low for red-dots. You have it right about keeping it as low as possable.  :D

I too have a 629 and have a Leoupold, I think that how you'ld spell it, any ways it a 2 power, I  would think med mount would work if not, make sure you keep the receipt so you can trade if it does not work for you. I have the 8 inch tube though, it will hold 3" group all day at 100 yds with my own load.

Pinebark, I have a set of Buehler base and rings off of a 629 I bought a few years ago they are stainless. I have the receipt from the buyer and he paid $120. for them. If interested I would sell them for $40. shipped. The scope was a Leupold 2x ,3 screw mounting

I have a Warne mount with the iron sites built in. I use med. Warne quick release rings and I barely have enough room to get my thumb w/ gloves under the scope to get to the hammer.
