7mm -08 load data question
« on: January 06, 2006, 05:14:15 PM »
I have a New Remington 700, 7mm-08, that I am loading 120 Sierra Spitzers for.
Does anyone have any proven accuracy data for this bullet?

 I have  Varget, H-380, H-335, H4831SC,
 Reloader 7,  & 15
 IMR 4198, 4064, 4320, 4350
 W-748, & 760

The gun and caliber are new to me and would be interested in any good data.

 The twist is   1- 9.25"

RV;

I've used W-760, H-414 and IMR-4064.
Seems that 4064 is the best for the two rifles I've used. Rem and Ruger. I worked up to a max charge on both of them, and that is where the best accuracy came from and using the same bullet as you. The Speer number 13 loading manual says 44gr. of IMR-4064 and that was what I used, even though they were using the Speer bullet. Federal or Remington Primers (standard) with a COL of 2.795"
Good Luck.

There are three 7mm-08s in my hunting camp.  I found that all three of them like Varget and R-15.  If that is what you have I would start there.  In my 7mm-08 I use Ramshot BigGame.  It is very accurate has excellent velocity and not as much felt recoil as H 414.
Good Luck

Varget has been the best powder in my 7mm-08 as well as a few other cartridges

It seems real funny.  I have the best results out of any of the 7m08s that I have or have had with Reloader 15 and H 4350.  I keep trying Varget and cannot get good accuracy using it.  But many reloaders see it as their go to powder in 7m08.  I will never understand it, but I guess I will stay with the horse that brought me. .  .

Haven't used the Sierra 120 but the Hornady 120 with 41.5 of H4895 works pretty darn good.  Best load in Rem 700 has been 37.5 Varget and the 160 Sierra GameKing though.

Federal 210 Standard Rifle or Rem 9-1/2 Standard or magnum.
Magnum if I use H-414 or W-760.
