Hi, guys. I recently bought what I think is a DW model 15 in .357mag.
How do I tell what I have here? It is blued, with wood target style grips. Barrel is ventilated rib, with partial underlug, 6" long. Has adjustable sights.
Now for the problems. The little knob that retains the cylinder onto the crane fell out of the left side of the frame and was lost. The cylinder tries to slide off the crane when ejecting cases. There is a little "D" shaped hole in the frame where it was. Was this just pressed in, or was there a retainer inside? Where can I obtain a replacement?
The colored insert fell out of the front sight also. Are these replaceable, or do I need a front sight?
Lastly, where is a good place for parts? Numrich does not break down the parts illustration far enough, and I'm not sure what model I have. Though it looks like the 15's I've seen. What is the difference between a 14, 15 and 15-2? I have a feeling I'll have all kinds of grief getting parts, its just my luck. Hope I'm wrong. Thanks for any help, Andy

If the cylinder and crane slide out forward then you need a crane lock #42. You have to remove the side plate #31 to install it.

Thanks for the help, George, but a crane lock is not what I need. When I press the extractor plunger to eject the empties, the whole cylinder and extractor star slide rearward off of the crane. They don't come all the way off, as the grip interferes at about the halfway point. There was a little keeper that was pressed into the frame that held the cylinder in place when it was open. It fit into a "D" shaped hole at the lower rear of the cylinder cut-out on the left hand side. It is not shown in the breakdown from Numrich. Will try CZ/Dan Wesson before making my own. Thanks again for the helpful info.

I think that you he is referring to the cylinder stop that is mounted to the side plate. I had one of these fall out many years ago. I sent the gun back to the factory for replacement. On the blue guns this part was swaged into the side plate. On the stainless guns it was machined into the side plate.

Yup, thanks to Georges info, a new "cylinder stop" is on its way.
Brian, whom I spoke with, told me that these falling out has always been a problem, and to stake it in place. Also use green Loctite. I know that'll hold!!

my model 14 has this part missing but the cylinder is still held in place by the recoil plate. if there was any more swing in the crane there would be a problem. my model 15 has the stop and the crane swings noticeibly more. so if it ever comes off It will need to be replaced.
