I first posted this question on military surplus rifles and got no answer.
My question is: 1st What is the diff. between the new military 6.8 spc, and the 7.62 x39 using a 115 gr. bullet other than one is a .270 and the other is a .30 cal..
2nd What is the case volume diff. in the two cartridges?
3rd Could the same velocities of the 6.8 be reached within a couple hunderd ft/sec. by handloading the 7.62.
4th And finally Why did they not just go back to the tried and true .308 I know they wanted to be able to just switch out the uppers on m16's and .308's won't fit in the magazine well. Com'on it's the awesome .308 sounds like two steps foward and one step backward!
