Hammer Extension?

This has probably already been done, but I will ask anyway. Has anyone ever tried to drill and tap the hammer and use a small cap screw or stud for a hammer extension? I was thinking of trying this but wasn't sure if it would be any better?

i would Loc-Tite the mfr's hammer extension on the rifle and forget about anything else.    i think their extension works like a charm.
