GOOD!....It needs to come to be, idiotic that Chautauqua Co. was not included last year, lets get Steuben Co. on board too while we are at it.
Referred to DEC....?.....Is that a good thing? I talked with two very knowledgable DEC officers at the Andover Maple Festival and Sportsmans Show about 4 or 5 years ago. They told me then that the DEC's position on this was they didn't care what we hunted with because the numbers for the kill were being met with the weapons already on the books. It was totally up to the local law makers and suggested that anyone wanting to change things NEEDED to start there. They said the DEC had no real juristiction over choosing the hunting implements used, it was up to the law makers.
They also said the rifle issue had been on the table for years prior to my asking them about it. One thing or another had shot it down. So is this Albany just passing the buck and allowing this to be shot down for a few more years or is it a genuine effort to aquire the "safety" info needed to pass the bill? Since the DEC guys I talked to sounded like there wasn't a darn thing the DEC could do, I wonder why it's been "referred" to them....I wonder whats going on here....
